Sports Attorney Leigh Steinberg Arrested After Auto Accident

NEWPORT BEACH — A well-known sports attorney was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving over the weekend after his Mercedes rear-ended another car on West Coast Highway, police said.

Leigh Steinberg, 47, of Newport Beach was released on $1,400 bail Saturday after the early morning accident in which no one was injured.

Among Steinberg's clients are Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman and Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug.

According to police, Steinberg was driving west in the 700 block of West Coast Highway shortly after midnight Saturday when he rear-ended a car.

Steinberg was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and given a blood-alcohol test at the station. The results are not yet in.
