OUTLOOK

The Matadors couldn't go anywhere but up and it appears they are headed in the right direction. Graves said his team will be stronger, quicker and more experienced. "Realistically, we could go 5-5," Graves said. But before they do anything, the Matadors must pick a quarterback. Graves said McMahan, Angel and Nguyen will all get snaps in the preseason. "We have no idea who's going to start," Graves said. He has been impressed with Baeder, who will start at tight end. "He's got great work ethic. We don't usually get good ones like this. He has great hands and he can really block." If McMahan doesn't play quarterback, he will play tailback and carry the ball 15-20 times a game. Though the Matadors are improved, they are still small and not very deep.
