Julie Hinsche

September 17, 1996

Huntington Beach, Senior; Volleyball/Middle Blocker

The Oilers started the season with two tests against top-10 teams and passed both, thanks in large part to Hinsche. At 6 feet 1, the team's tallest player, she plugged up the middle and provided plenty of offense. She had 14 kills and five blocks in a four-game victory over Laguna Beach and 12 kills and four blocks in a sweep of San Clemente.

Summer Altice/Volleyball/Outside Hitter

Kirsten Berg/Volleyball/Outside Hitter

* La Habra, junior. Had 46 kills in two days and was named MVP of the Desert Classic after leading the Highlanders to title.

Allyson Marquand/Cross-Country

* University, sophomore. Had the fastest time of the day at the Laguna Hills Invitational, winning her three-mile race in 17:41.
