A 24-year-old Pacoima man was detained Thursday on suspicion of beating to death a 3-year-old girl, and the dead child's mother was also being sought as a possible suspect, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Marcos Santiago was taken into custody after Fire Department officials reported they were holding a child-abuse suspect at a house in the 12800 block of Glenoaks Boulevard, police said. When the officers arrived at the residence about 12:40 p.m., they found the young victim unconscious and not breathing.
