Jerry Van Dyke House Is Tabbed for Tours

September 22, 1996

Actor Jerry Van Dyke's Toluca Lake home, built in 1936 by Bing Crosby, will be open Oct. 1-Nov. 3 as Design House '96, sponsored by the Assistance League of Southern California.

Van Dyke, who co-stars in the ABC sitcom "Coach," and his wife, Shirley, have owned the six-bedroom 10,000-square-foot home on two acres, since 1993. Crosby moved out of the house when it suffered a fire in 1943.

Twenty designers created the interiors of Design House '96. Tickets are $15 if bought before Oct. 1 and $17 at the door. Tours will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.

Proceeds from the tours will aid the league's 10 community-based agencies, which help more than 66,000 adults and children in need each year.

Information: (818) 509-3898 or (213) 993-1098.
