Five Die After Truck Hits Car, School Bus

September 24, 1996| Reuters

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Three children, a high school student and an adult were killed Monday when a truck slammed into a car and a school bus in heavy fog, police said.

The 15-year-old high school student was a passenger on the bus. The three children and the adult were riding in the car, which was crushed between the truck and bus.

The accident occurred when the bus stopped on state Highway 26 to pick up passengers, the Fond du Lac County sheriff's office said. A car stopped behind the bus, but the tractor-trailer driver apparently did not see either vehicle and slammed into them, police said. About a dozen children riding on the bus were injured, but none seriously.
