September 25, 1996|JULIE TAMAKI

The Los Angeles City Council issued a $25,000 reward Tuesday for information leading to the arrest of a tattooed burglar who critically injured a North Hills man and then sexually assaulted his wife.

The couple were severely beaten Aug. 26 after they confronted a burglar inside their home in the 9700 block of Burnet Avenue. The intruder struck the 57-year-old male resident several times on the head with a weapon, knocking him unconscious.

Moments later, when the man's wife confronted the intruder, the intruder attacked her and forced her into another room, where she was sexually assaulted.

The man is described as Latino, 5 feet 4 to 5 feet 7 inches tall, medium build, 25 to 30 years old, with a thin mustache and numerous body tattoos.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department.
