1995 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc ($16.25)

From the cool-climate Marlborough region and one of New Zealand's top wineries comes this outstanding Sauvignon Blanc. Its nose of freshly cut grass overlaid with flint and citrus almost jumps out of the glass. The taste is minerally and complex, its lush fruit brought into focus by the wine's vibrant acidity.

Pair it with raw oysters, smoked salmon or trout, steamed mussels and sand dabs--or soft shell crab--meuniere. It's also terrific with a chalky fresh goat cheese.

Available in limited supply at Hi-Times in Orange, the Wine House in West Los Angeles and Red Carpet in Glendale. It may be somewhat easier to find on local wine lists.
