More Car Windows Reported Shattered

September 26, 1996

Motorists reported at least seven more instances of shattered car windows on Los Angeles County freeways late Wednesday, the latest in a two-week wave of attacks on Southland drivers.

The California Highway Patrol said Wednesday's attacks--which may have involved thrown rocks--started at 8 p.m. on East Los Angeles freeways. No injuries were reported.

The first attack came on the eastbound Interstate 10 at Alameda Street, followed by another at the interchange with the Pomona Freeway, the CHP said. Other attacks came at 8:27 on the eastbound Pomona Freeway near Whittier Boulevard and at 9:40 p.m. on the northbound Long Beach Freeway south of Florence Avenue.

In all, at least 61 Southland drivers have reported broken windows since Sept. 11.
