The Valley College gymnastics center is always open to the public for casual workouts, but once a year the facility holds the Senior Olympics for those who want to test their skills in competition.

The event, which is Sunday, is open to gymnasts ages 20 to 70.

Entry fee is $2 per event. For men there will be competition in rope climb, tumbling, all-around (the four Olympic events), floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar.

The women will have rope climb, tumbling, all-around, floor exercise, vault, uneven parallel bars and balance beam.

Most of the 200 people who use the gym each week are low-key athletes or beginners who want to try something new.

Certain nights are reserved for martial arts practitioners and jugglers, but the gymnastics equipment is usually available.

Located on Ethel Avenue near Burbank, the gym is open most nights until 10.
