Trabuco Hills Cruises Past Villa Park for Its First Victory

ORANGE — Tom Lindow threw three touchdown passes and Chris Lewis rushed 23 times for 188 yards to lead Trabuco Hills to a 28-7 nonleague victory over Villa Park Friday at El Modena High.

Lindow completed eight of 13 passes for 126 yards as Trabuco Hills (1-2) built a 28-0 lead before Villa Park scored in the fourth quarter. Lewis had 155 yards rushing in the first half.

Trabuco Hills took a 7-0 lead on the first play of the second quarter. Lindow hit Scott Arthur with a 30-yard scoring pass.

The Mustangs made it 14-0 with 2 minutes 52 seconds left in the first half when Lindow hit Lorin Yannarell for a seven-yard score. The touchdown was set up when Lindow recovered Villa Park quarterback Ryan Wann's fumble at the Spartan 45.

Villa Park football--Derek Rogers, who converted Villa Park's extra-point in the Spartans' 28-7 loss to Trabuco Hills Friday night, was misidentified in the statistical summary in Saturday's edition of The Times Orange County.

Trabuco Hills got the ball back at its 20 with just under a minute to play in the half. Lewis had runs of 30 and 16 yards before Lindow hit Billy Benda for a 20-yard score and a 21-0 lead.

Billy Ortiz returned a fumble by Spartan quarterback Gary Wann 64 yards for a 28-0 lead midway through the third quarter. Wann lost the ball when he was hit from the blind side by Mustang linebacker Todd Flournoy.

Villa Park scored its touchdown with 5:44 left to play when Nick Miranda went around left end for a six-yard score. The touchdown was set up by a 45-yard fumble return by Paul Neilson.

Miranda led the Spartans (0-3) on offense with 72 yards rushing in 12 carries.
