Walks, Talks, Shows and Special Sales

Friday: Plant sale, 9 a.m.-noon, at the West Valley Occupational Center, 6200 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills; (818) 346-3540, Ext. 231. Admission: Free.

Saturday: A talk on winter annuals and vegetables, 10 a.m., at Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Can~ada Flintridge; (818) 952-4401. Admission: $5, adults; $3, seniors and students; $1, children.

Saturday: A Native Plant Fair, with lectures on use and care, tours and a plant sale featuring hundreds of natives, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Irvine Arboretum, Campus Drive, one block south of Jamboree Road, UC Irvine. Admission: free.

Saturday: A class on the selection and care of native plants, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, 1500 North College Ave., Claremont; (909) 625-8767. Cost: $48, with reservations required by calling (909) 626-1917.
