David Krewson completed eight of 18 passes for 123 yards and one touchdown as Simi Valley High picked up its first Marmonte League victory by beating Channel Islands, 14-6, Saturday night at Channel Islands.

Channel Islands (1-7, 0-5 in league) was driving in the final minute, with Nick Ciari connecting on consecutive pass plays of 16 and 32 yards to move to the Simi Valley 32-yard line. Ciari's desperation pass, however, fell incomplete as time expired.

Simi Valley (3-5, 1-4) scored first on an eight-yard pass from Krewson to Mike Boyd in the first quarter.

The Pioneers stretched their lead to 14-0 with 31 seconds left in the third quarter after Aaron Simmons intercepted a Ciari pass at the Channel Islands 41-yard line and returned it four yards to set up an eventual three-yard touchdown run by Krewson.

Channel Islands pulled to within 14-6 on a three-yard pass from Ciari to Ryan Brunsell midway through the third quarter. Craig Knight was stopped short on the two-point conversion run.
