Ferron's reputation as a feminist folk singer precedes her, but even the politically incorrect may be seduced by the thoughtful, poignant songs and richly textured arrangements on this album. Jazz and soul accents are evident throughout, from the graceful minor chords that drive "The Chosen Ones" to the gospel-flavored backing vocals and piano fills on "Easy With Love." (Ferron plays tonight at the Coach House and Tuesday at the Troubadour.)
