In Brief

** Susanna Hoffs, "Susanna Hoffs," London.

November 10, 1996|Sara Scribner

On her second solo album, the former Bangles singer tosses off palatable, jangling pop with a '60s bent, but her originals--co-written with producer David Baerwald and far too many others--don't come close to meeting the pinnacle of passion she stirs up with her version of the Lightning Seeds' "All I Want." Hoffs plays the Troubadour on Tuesday.

Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
