Taitron Cites Soft Market for Poor Profit Showing

November 12, 1996

Taitron Components Inc., a Santa Clarita distributor of computer components, said its profit for the third quarter that ended Sept. 30 was $409,000, about one-third last year's profit of $1.2 million in the same period.

Sales for the third quarter were down 26% to $6.94 million, from $9.37 million in the corresponding period a year ago.

For the first nine months of this year, the profit was $1.7 million, down 43% from a $3-million profit in the first nine months last year. Year-to-date sales were $22.8 million, down 15% from $26.9 million last year.

The company blamed its slipping performance on a soft market for its semiconductor devices.
