In Brief

*** The Chieftains, "Santiago," RCA Victor.

November 24, 1996|Don Heckman

The Chieftains' musical odyssey continues with this intriguing blend of music from Ireland and Spanish Galicia. With the aid Linda Ronstadt, Los Lobos and Ry Cooder, it all comes together. But the high points are provided by the music: spirited jigs and Spanish ballads, medieval tunes and a climactic live encounter between the Chieftains and the musicians of a small Spanish seaport.
