A Grateful Group Volunteers Its Thanks

November 24, 1996

Re "Making the Big Difference" (Nov. 14): The world needs to hear more stories like that of 15-year-old Denise Marquez, who was selected as this year's National Philanthropy Day youth volunteer winner.

Through a program at Big Sisters of Los Angeles, Denise has made a difference in the lives of many. Among the activities she undertook was helping us prepare holiday celebrations for the homeless and poor men, women and children of skid row.

On behalf of everyone at the Los Angeles Mission, I'd like to extend an extra special congratulations to Denise. We hope the children she helps will grow up to be just like her.
