Never mind the teen spirit of the TV series; this spinoff collection offers consistent, if not always compelling, adult-level quality. Notable are the BoDeans' catchy theme song "Closer to Free," BT's ace techno casting of Tori Amos on "Blue Skies" and such intriguing matches as Stevie Nicks on Tom Petty's "Free Fallin' " and Rickie Lee Jones on Donovan's "Sunshine Superman," a song she sounds born to sing.
