Scott Says He Will Go to Washington

Burroughs High quarterback J.K. Scott said he will make a commitment today to the University of Washington.

Scott, a 6-foot-3 senior, passed for 3,013 yards and 32 touchdowns while leading the Indians to a 7-4 record and their first playoff berth in three seasons.

Scott also was being recruited by California, Arizona, Arizona State and Washington State.

Aspiring Anteater: Crescenta Valley soccer player Stephanie Rigamat has made a commitment to play at UC Irvine. The forward scored a school-record 39 goals last season and was a member of The Times' all-area team. Buena midfielder Megan Munday, another Times' all-area team member, committed to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

North-bound? Mark Banker, who was a candidate for the football coaching vacancy at Cal State Northridge, has reportedly been hired as secondary coach at Oregon State.

Banker was a graduate assistant last season at USC, where new Oregon State Coach Mike Riley was offensive coordinator. Banker was an assistant at Northridge for 14 years, 11 as defensive coordinator. He left Northridge in 1994.
