It was truly heartwarming to wake up today and read of the Lakers' resentment at having to play basketball on Christmas Day. Included among the affronted were Shaquille O'Neal (who earned more than $130,000 for his day's work) and Byron Scott, who has the "stigma" of working for the NBA minimum, a pauperlike $275,000 a year.
Scott expressed anger at not being able to see his children's faces "light up" at gift-receiving time, and undoubtedly his feelings are genuine.
