Conversation : 'I Saw Women Go to School and Have Jobs' Cambodian-born RIEM MEN, a community outreach worker for the Southeast Asian Health Project in Long Beach, had to make some wrenching adjustments in his relationships with his children, especially his three daughters, in America. Riem came to the Unite States in 1974 and, trapped here by Cambodia's upheavals, lost track of his family for several years as they suffered under Khmer Rouge rule.
