Trojans Hire Offensive Coordinator

As expected, Hue Jackson of California was named USC's new offensive coordinator. Jackson, 31, replaces Mike Riley, now Oregon State's head coach.

Also, Coach John Robinson promoted wide receivers coach Mike Sanford to assistant head coach, a title Riley held.

Of Jackson, 31, Robinson commented: "Hue is one of the rising stars in coaching today. He has a big future in in either the college ranks or the NFL. He will bring new ideas to our offense and he's known as one of the best recruiters around."

Under Jackson, Cal averaged 458 yards per game in total offense last season, second best in the Pacific 10 Conference. The Golden Bears also led the league in pass offense, 322 yards per game. And, quarterback Pat Barnes led the conference in both total offense and pass efficiency.
