Harley-Davidson Sues Santa Ana Company

SANTA ANA — Motorcycle customizer Bikers Dream Inc. said it is being sued by Harley-Davidson Inc. for trademark and "trade dress" infringement, apparently for using the Harley trademark and image in advertising for Bikers' own line of custom motorcycles.

Officials of the Santa Ana company were not available for comment. In a prepared statement, Bikers Dream said it intended to defend itself "vigorously." Officials at Harley-Davidson in Milwaukee could not be reached for comment.

Separately, Bikers Dream, which operates a chain of stores selling new custom-made motorcycles, used Harley-Davidson motorcycles and motorcycle parts and accessories, said it has completed its $3.8-million acquisition of Ultra Kustom Cycles and Ultra Kustom Parts. The two Riverside units of Mull Acres Investments Inc. make the large displacement cruiser-style motorcycles retailed by Bikers Dream and other motorcycle parts.
