Great Western Picks New Ad Agency

CALIFORNIA | BANKING & FINANCIAL SERVICES | THE STATE

February 11, 1997|Times Staff and Wire Reports

Great Western Financial Corp. dumped Dailey & Associates after 20 years, awarding its $15-million advertising account to Bozell Worldwide. The Chatsworth-based thrift, which used to feature John Wayne and Dennis Weaver as spokesmen, said it plans to replace its "Old West" theme with imagery more relevant to '90s consumers. A force behind the agency shift was GW marketing Vice President Dennis Shirley, who recently joined the thrift from Los Angeles-based First Interstate Bancorp. The ads from Bozell are expected to appear in May.
