Digital Arts Aid

March 16, 1997

Gov. Pete Wilson has proposed spending $1.2 million a year to train digital artists ("Digital Arts Aid Proposed," Feb. 20).

If there is one American industry with virtually no competition, making millions of dollars yearly from worldwide sales, it's the entertainment industry. It does not need taxpayer support. If Disney can afford a multimillion-dollar severance package for Michael Ovitz, it certainly can afford to set up a program of grants or loans for training digital artists.
