'Bull Durham'

March 23, 1997|Michael Wilmington

In this sweet and sexy 1988 comedy set around a rat-poor minor-league baseball team, the Durham Bulls, writer-director Ron Shelton is absolutely the diamond's best friend. The veteran catcher on the team (Kevin Costner, pictured) has the task of smartening up the blazing young pitcher (Tim Robbins). Fierce, funny and uninhibited; with Susan Sarandon (Lifetime, Sunday at 5:30 p.m.).
