Laker update--Coming off games Thursday and Friday and with the early start today, the Lakers went through a brief workout Saturday that was more like the shootaround they won't have time for before tip-off. Corie Blount participated and will be in his now-usual role as the starting power forward after the scare of getting elbowed just below the right eye Friday in Miami, knocking him out for the final 6:39 and causing blurriness and double vision.
Magic update--Center Rony Seikaly has done a commendable job of filling in after the loss of Shaquille O'Neal, averaging 16.9 points and 9.3 rebounds while shooting 50.7%. Seikaly has 27 double-doubles after getting 15 all last season with the Warriors. Orlando is 14-4 since Richie Adubato replaced Brian Hill as coach. Penny Hardaway, averaging 20.8 points overall, is at 25.9 the last seven games.
