The president and chief executive officer of Korean Air has been elected to the University of Southern California's board of trustees, it was announced Monday.
Yang Ho Cho is a 1979 graduate of USC's Marshall School of Business and a member of the graduate program's CEO advisory board. He is also a vice president of the airline's parent, Hanjin Group.
Cho and his family endow scholarships for Korean-American students by supporting the university's Korean Heritage Library, and the Chos have funded teaching and research in South Korea by USC professors, USC officials said.
"As a leader of Korean Air and the Hanjin Group, Dr. Cho has made a major impact on the business environment throughout the Pacific Rim," said USC President Steven Sample.
