SANTA BARBARA--It's peak time for blooms at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, where the Wildflower Spring Fest will be held Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. At 1212 Mission Canyon Road. $3 adults, $2 seniors and students, $1 children, under 5 free. (805) 682-4726, Ext. 110.

BORREGO SPRINGS--There will be more than citrus for sale at the Grapefruit Festival, April 11-13. Activities will include pony rides and miniature train rides for kids, a horseshoe tournament and a classic car show. BODEGA BAY--Activities will range from silly to serious at the annual Fisherman's Festival April 12 and 13 at Westside Park. Bizarre home-built crafts will take to the water in the Bathtub Races, 2-5 p.m. April 12. There will also be a Fish Fest Kite-Fly contest, noon-2 p.m. April 13; and a boat parade, noon April 13; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the park off California Highway 1 at Eastshore Road. $3 adults, $2 seniors, free for children 12 and under. ENCINITAS--The Encinitas Street Fair April 12 and 13 will include bands playing on three stages, more than 300 arts and crafts vendors, a farmers market and a petting zoo. Free admission. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. along 1st Street, from D to J streets. (619) 943-1950.

ARCATA--Birdwatchers can view grouse, spotted owl and other species at the Godwit Days Spring Migration Bird Festival, April 18-20. Workshops on bird photography, backyard wildlife and other topics will be at Redwood Park. Festival hours: 7-10 p.m. April 18, 4 a.m.-10 p.m., April 19, 4 a.m.-5 p.m. April 20. $25 registration fee includes workshops; field trips are $5-$20 extra. (707) 826-2359.
