April 18, 1997| Associated Press

HOUSTON — The City Council has voted unanimously to rename Houston Intercontinental Airport after former President Bush.

Despite Wednesday's vote, the official abbreviation for the George Bush Intercontinental Airport-Houston will continue to be IAH.

Bush and his wife, Barbara, settled in Houston after they moved out of the White House in 1993.
