Volunteers to Clean Trail, Take a Hike

The Rancho Simi Trail Blazers will host the local California Trail Days Weekend on Saturday and Sunday at the Hummingbird Trail Head located north of the 118 Freeway at Kuehner Drive in Simi Valley.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, the group will lead the effort to clear trash and debris from the trail. On Sunday, volunteers will be able to reap the benefits of their work during a day hike along the trail. The hike will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Organizers recommend that volunteers bring gloves and water, and wear sturdy shoes and long pants. Children 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

The Simi Valley cleanup and hike is part of a statewide effort to improve recreational trails used by hikers, horse riders and mountain bikers.
