Apria's Income Falls 5%, Revenue Rises by 6% in Quarter

May 01, 1997

COSTA MESA — Apria Healthcare Group Inc., a provider of home health-care products and services, posted a 5% decline in net income for the first quarter, while revenue increased 6%.

The company said net income totaled $19.2 million, or 37 cents a share, for the first three months, down from $20.3 million, or 39 cents a share, for the same period last year. Revenue was up 6% to $313.9 million from $295.3 million. The 1997 results included a gain on the sale of the company's investment in Omnicare, which was partially offset by a loss on the sale of Doctor's Home Health, a home health agency. The net effect was a pretax gain of about $400,000 for the quarter, the company said.
