* JAZZ 113, LAKERS 97--Nov. 20, at the Forum: Karl Malone scored 20 of his 37 points in the third quarter (only one less than the Lakers scored in the quarter), as Utah handed the Lakers their first home-court loss of the season. Shaquille O'Neal led the Lakers with 26 points and 15 rebounds.

* JAZZ 101, LAKERS 75--Dec. 4, at the Delta Center: The Lakers shot a season-low 34.1% and were only one point away from a franchise low. Guards Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones scored only eight points, and shot a combined three for 21.

* JAZZ 101, LAKERS 89--April 9, at the Delta Center: Malone made 11 of 15 field-goal attempts, scoring a game-high 29 points, as the Jazz clinched the top seeding in the Western Conference playoffs. The Lakers shot only 37.3%.

* LAKERS 100, JAZZ 98--April 13, at the Forum: In O'Neal's second game back after sitting out 30 games because of a knee injury, he made a 10-foot baseline jumper as time expired to end Utah's 15-game winning streak. O'Neal led all scorers with 39 points, and made 11 of his last 15 shots.
