Stamp Out Mom's Apron

May 07, 1997|TRACY CROWE McGONIGLE

Probably the last place most moms want to spend Mother's Day is the kitchen. Still, it would be hard for any mom to resist an apron hand-decorated by her kids. Vegetable stamps make the job so easy that even a 3-year-old can manage it--in fact, a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old did the apron shown here.

If you're directing the project, don't forget to have the artist leave his or her signature; a hand print is a good way to sign the work of art.

You will need:

Assorted fabric paints

1 paper plate

1 paint brush

Assorted vegetable stamps

1 plain apron (inexpensive ones are available at Target and many discount stores)

*Squeeze paints onto paper plate, keeping colors separate.

*Brush paint on rubber side of stamps, using different colors as desired and press onto apron in desired pattern.

*Paint the palm side of child's hand and press onto apron.
