School Repairs: Top L.A. school officials are headed for Sacramento today to cut some red tape. They want state officials to give them "fast track" authority over school repair and construction projects funded by the $2.4-billion Proposition BB bond issue. . . . On some work they want the limit they can spend without state approval raised from $20,000 to $100,000.

Nava Donation: Cal State Northridge hosts a three-day symposium on U.S.-Mexico relations starting today to mark the donation of the papers of former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Julian Nava, above. The papers are going to its Urban Archives Center (B3).
