Lynn LaBate, Fullerton Museum Center's curator, has been chosen to be a reviewer in a prestigious national competition for federal museum grant funds.
LaBate is one of 70 museum professionals from across the nation who will serve on a review panel coordinated by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.
More than 1,000 museums nationwide apply for institute funds each year. Reviewers of the applications determine who gets funding.
The grants--about $22 million annually--are highly sought after and are the only federal source of operating support for museums, institute officials said.
The institute, which aims to improve museum and library service to communities across the U.S., was established by Congress last year.
