Traveler's Notes . . .

May 18, 1997

Sales by consolidators, who buy blocks of airline tickets and resell them to consumers at cut rates, rose 14.6% last year, outpacing the overall growth of air ticket sales by 50%, according to St. Paul-Minn.-based Travel Publishing Inc. . . . What price, romance? Exactly $150 in the hotel business, apparently. That's the cost of the new Proposal Package at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, in Dana Point. The package provides props such as an overstuffed chair for the woman, a pillow for the man to kneel on, champagne and rose petals to enhance outdoor or in-room pleadings. Information: (714) 240-2000 Ext. 5367.
