BENA, Minn. — Police found two bodies in a lake they believe to be friends who drowned while trying to canoe the length of the Mississippi River.
Authorities found the bodies and their overturned canoe in Lake Winnibigoshish on Saturday, the Cass County sheriff's office said.
They are believed to be Jonathan C. Hoare, 26, of St. Louis, and Mark E. Huckabay, 37, of San Francisco, who have been missing since May 9.
