Nibbles and Bits

May 27, 1997

South Coast Repertory's 12th annual Hispanic Playwrights Project, which is set for August, will feature works by three dramatists: Octavio Solis, who has been part of the project twice before, and newcomers Joann Farfas and Jorge Ignacio Cortinas. This year's plays were chosen from 85 scripts submitted largely by emerging Latino playwrights. The schedule for the staged readings: Cortinas' "How to Make Love to a Mulatto," about a family of Cuban emigres, 7:30 p.m Aug. 8; Farfas' "Claudia Meets Fulano Colorado," about conflicts in the lives of three women, 2:30 p.m. Aug. 9; Solis' "La Romy Takes a Dive," about a young girl who discovers her father's true identity, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9. $6; $2 for students and seniors.
