Edison Wins Award for Saving Jobs

May 29, 1997|(Times Staff)

Southern California Edison will receive the Eddy Award today for its efforts to attract, retain and expand businesses in the region, said the L.A. Economic Development Corp. and the L.A. Chamber of Commerce, which give out the award. The Eddy Award, created two years ago to celebrate outstanding excellence in economic development, was given to Edison for "its extraordinary efforts on behalf of some 450 local firms, thereby saving over 104,000 jobs. Many of these firms would have relocated out of California or out of the country altogether had they not received some kind of support," said LAEDC President Lee Harrington.
