THE TIMES 1997 SPRING ALL-COUNTY TEAMS

All-county Boys' Volleyball

June 13, 1997

JON ALLEMAN

Esperanza, Sr.

One of the most versatile and dominant players in the county, he will play at Brigham Young next season. He consistently delivered in the clutch for the Aztecs.

*

RYAN HISKEY

Edison, Sr.

His team was overshadowed by league rivals Esperanza, which was Division I champion, and Huntington Beach, but the 5-11 senior still distinguished himself as a top-flight setter.

*

NICK MAURO

Santa Margarita, Sr.

The league co-MVP wasn't the most overpowering middle blocker, but his consistent play was a big key to his team's Division II championship run.

*

DAVE McKIENZIE

Huntington Beach, Sr.

The Long Beach State-bound outside hitter could physically dominate a match. An ankle injury kept him out of the Division I quarterfinals, and the Oilers lost without him.

*

JIM POLSTER

Dana Hills, Sr.

A dominant offensive force at 6-6, he will play at Long Beach State next season. He led Dana Hills to second-place league finish and first playoff appearance since 1994.

*

RYAN THURLOW

Capistrano Valley, Sr.

At 6-3, the USC-bound outside hitter was the South Coast MVP and led his team to the Division I semifinals. One of the county's most exciting offensive players.

*

EDDIE RAPP

Coach of the Year

The fourth-year coach took the group of players he has groomed since they were freshmen and led them to the school's first section boys' volleyball title.
