Signs of Home

The Valley hasn't seceded from Los Angeles just yet, but it has gotten something usually associated with cities: its own signs. For the first time, Caltrans has posted signs alongside five freeways telling motorists they are entering the San Fernando Valley. Three of the ground-mounted signs were installed last week and the remaining two on Monday, all at the request of California Transportation Commissioner David W. Fleming.
