O.C. Man Faces New Fraud Charges

An Anaheim Hills man awaiting sentencing for mortgage loan fraud in South-Central Los Angeles was arrested Friday and accused of defrauding two more victims from the same area.

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office said the latest charges against Tim Barnett, 34, involve nine counts including grand theft, mortgage-foreclosure violations and burglary.

The two victims lost about $65,000, prosecutors said.

Barnett, who pleaded no contest to mortgage-fraud charges on July 19, was accused in that case of defrauding residents--most of them poor and elderly--out of as much as several hundred thousand dollars, prosecutors said.
