Brent Russell Chalem of Palo Alto, a native of Westlake Village, died Dec. 9 in Las Vegas of pneumonia. He was 22.

Chalem was born Feb. 1, 1975.

He appeared in numerous TV series, including "Punky Brewster" and "Quantum Leap." Chalem also appeared in the movie "Monster Squad."

An honor student at Westlake High School, he went on to graduate from UC Berkeley and was planning to attend law school.

"Brent was one of those kids everybody knew," said family friend Marsha Rosenblum. "He made friends with everybody he met."

Chalem is survived by his father, Allen, of Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his mother Bettyanne.
