"Hot Topics," a TV forum for topics of local interest, is set to begin next month on the city's cable channel.

Cal State Fullerton professor Tony Fellows will moderate the 28-minute program, to air once a month. He and a media panel will select topics and invite two residents with opposing viewpoints to debate them.

Representatives from local print media, television and radio stations will question the participants in a "Meet the Press" format, city officials said.

"Hot Topics" will run from January to July on HBTV-3. Each program will be rebroadcast several times during the month.
