Rudy Davilos, New Mexico's athletic director, and David Mc Kinney, the school's vice president for business and finance, visited UCLA's practice Thursday, after which they spoke with Coach Bob Toledo for an endorsement of Bruin defensive coordinator Rocky Long.
Then they spoke with Long about becoming the Lobos' coach.
Davilos said the list of candidates has been reduced to five, with three interviewed in Dallas on Wednesday and Long on Thursday. Gary Patterson, who is on the New Mexico staff, is also a candidate to replace Dennis Franchione, who is leaving for Texas Christian.
