Woman Found Slain Is Identified

HUNTINGTON BEACH — A 52-year-old woman whose body was found this week in her trailer home was identified Wednesday as Abby Safford, but police revealed few details about her death or any suspected motive in her slaying.

Safford was a resident of the Villa Huntington Mobile Home Park on Slater Avenue. Police would only say Wednesday that her death was not the result of natural causes or suicide.

"We're not releasing the time nor cause of death yet," Huntington Beach Police Lt. Dan Johnson said. "An autopsy has been performed but we do not have the results yet. The investigation is continuing."

Neighbors and Safford's ex-husband alerted police Monday morning that the victim had not been seen in recent weeks and that newspapers were piling up outside her trailer home.
