Small Plane Crashes at Nevada Airport

November 28, 1997|Associated Press

CARSON CITY, Nev. — A twin-engine plane crashed into a hangar at the Carson City airport Thursday in a deadly fireball that officials said was so intense they could not determine how many people were on board.

The crash occurred behind a fire station, and crews responded within 90 seconds. Nonetheless, there was no possibility of rescue because of the heat and flames, said Stacey Giomi of the Carson City Fire Department.

The blaze was so intense it obliterated identification numbers on the wrecked plane.

The fire destroyed the hangar, the plane and another plane parked in the hangar.
