Welfare Rolls

October 19, 1997

It is pleasing to observe that the welfare rolls have "plummeted" to only 2,284,541 claimants in California (Oct. 9). How did we get in this deplorable condition? Are we a Third World country? How many people work every day to pay these debts? And yet, people complain that it is unfair to have welfare reform.
